Who we are

“We should be about more than just selling chicken. We should be a part of our customers’ lives and the communities in which we serve.” S. TRUETT CATHY 1921—2014

Our founder, Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. Having worked seven days a week in restaurants open 24 hours, Truett saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose – a practice we uphold today.

As conditions and regulations about coronavirus evolve and differ across the country, availability of dining options like curbside or full dining room seating will vary by restaurant. What remains unchanged is our commitment to safety and high operating standards, and we are continually adjusting our operations to help protect our Operators, Team Members and Guests.

Our same commitment to you, with new changes to our restaurants

At Chick-fil-A, we are focused on finding ways to best care for our guests, particularly as we navigate the unparalleled circumstances of COVID-19. As we incorporate social distancing into our daily routines, we are shifting the way we extend hospitality.

A life centered on family

Family was always central to Truett Cathy’s life and would shape his unique approach to business later in life. With his wife of 65 years, Jeannette, he had three children: Trudy, Don “Bubba”, and Dan. The current generation of the Cathy family honors Truett’s legacy and continues to put his principles into action in both business and philanthropy.
