Who can forget the reaction of kids when you tell them you’re going to the playground. It’s priceless and fulfilling. On that note, there are tons of kids park and indoor parks around the United States where your kids can enjoy themselves and have fun together with their newfound friends. However, if you are planning for a trip where the entire family would enjoy, you need to think of places where kids equally have fun.
If so, Florida is your place to be. Not only is it the theme park capital of the world, but it is also home for indoor kids activities and unique playgrounds. On top of that, these kids’ parks are safe to leave your kids while you explore some not-so-kid-friendly destination with your husband or wife.
Here are three unique playgrounds for children in Florida:
Pirates Cove Playground at Patch Reef Park
Where: Boca Raton
Florida, being the theme park capital, is home to a lot of themed activities, and it also has an abundance of water activities. However, it would be problematic to leave your kids unattended at beaches, so here’s a compromise. Take them to Pirates Cove Playground at Boca Raton. This way, they will be experiencing the ocean without leaving dry land. The playground is structured like a pirate ship — perfect for kids to imagine that they are at sea! There are plenty of activities they can do as well — from slides and swings to the use of water cannons and fountains on the water adventure island. Here’s a plus: the playground has a toddler play area for younger kids and an electronic play area for those who are older!
Science Playground at Sugar Sand Park
Where: Boca Raton
A great man once said: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” While this is true, the opposite is equally as valid as well. “All play and no work makes Jill a dull girl.” What if there’s a middle ground? Oh, wait! Yes! The Science Playground at Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton is an awesome way for your kids to play and work (more of “learn”) at the same time. This playground reopened in 2017, and since then, it has become more accessible even for kids of different abilities. There is a train-themed toddler area where they can enjoy the swings, slides, carousels, and other activities. Since it is also a science-themed playground, your kids can also enjoy some science activities like finding out how much you weigh on other planets and digging for dinosaur fossils!
Playworld Playground at Zoo Miami
Where: Miami
Do your kids enjoy nature and wildlife? If so, then you should not miss the chance to let them try the one-of-a-kind experience that the Playworld Playground at Zoo Miami offers! As you can assume from its name, it is a zoo-themed playground within an actual zoo. There is a wet and dry playground where your kids can run around like wild animals. Jungle Journey has a jungle gym, a wobbly bridge to cross, a life-size gorilla and hippo to escape, and a hollow log for climbing on and through. If they identify more as water-lovers, then they should head to the Ocean Voyage section and enjoy 28 water features like the whale tail waterfall (one of the most favorites!).
There’s a myriad of other spots in Miami where you can drop off your kids and let them run free. Here are other playgrounds you should see:
- Scott’s Place Playground, Wellington
- Tiger Shark Cove Park, Wellington
- Tom Sawyer’s Play Island at Amelia Earhart Park, Hialeah
- Bill Frederick Park At Turkey Lake, Orlando
- Big Tree Park, Longwood
